While Chelsea produced a stirring comeback to knock Napoli and the talents of Edinson Cavani, Ezquiel Lavezzi and Marek Hamsik out of the 2011/12 Champions League, they face a magical trio from Benfica. Gaitan, Cardozo and Garcia are integral to The Eagles success and Manchester United will remember all three well after they helped knock them out at the group stage. Here, talkSPORT takes a look at these three players, which Premier League clubs they are interesting and how much they would cost.
STRENGTHS: Gaitan has an appetite for big games as Manchester United discovered and his dribbling ability means he can glide past opponents with ease. Just as impressive is Gaitan's stamina; it is rare that the Argentine tires and he often makes telling contributions late in games.
WEAKNESSES: Consistency has been a problem for Gaitan. After a flying start to the season his form has quickly tailed off. Improving his right foot and adding more goals to his game are a must if he is to make the most of his potential.
STAT ATTACK: Joint top for assists in the Champions League with Karim Benzema (five)
CLUBS INTERESTED: Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham
VALUE: £25million, contract until 2016
HE SAYS: “Every now and again I am linked to a big club in the Premier League. I am used to the rumours by now and it doesn't affect my work at Benfica. Manchester United are a great club, what more can I say?”
STRENGTHS: Goals, goals, goals. The rock solid frontman has the ability to rocket in strikes from all over the place and he operates brilliantly as a target man. His bullying performances during his time at the Estadio de Luz has seen him smash in 127 goals in 205 appearances.
WEAKNESSES: Similar to Dimitar Berbatov, Cardozo can fade out of games and the silky footwork previously mentioned can quickly go missing. He has also developed a habit of spurning some glorious chances.
STAT ATTACK: 22 goals in 30 games this season
CLUBS INTERESTED: Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Everton
VALUE: £18million, contract until 2014
THEY SAY: “He's a killer forward and technically has such good movement. He goes on to the pitch with one aim — to hit the net. Usually he achieves that." Wigan defender and Paraguay team-mate, Antolin Alcaraz
POSITION: Defensive midfielder
STRENGTHS: Garcia is a brick wall in the middle of the park for Benfica and is crucial at providing a platform for the attacking talents of Cardozo and Gaitan. The Spaniard has a superb footballing brain and due to his size he is a massive threat at set pieces.
WEAKNESSES: Garcia isn't the quickest and may lack the mentality to succeed in a squad full of stars, as his time at Real Madrid - before he moved to Portugal - suggests.
STAT ATTACK: Benfica have only lost once in the 23 games Garcia has played this season (correct up to 26 March 2012).
CLUBS INTERESTED: Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and AC Milan
VALUE: £30million, contract until 2018<
THEY SAY: "There are several clubs following him very carefully, especially two Premier League clubs. Then there is also one Bundesliga and one Serie club." Garcia's agent, Manuel Garcia Quilon.
