Ricky Hatton has confirmed his return to the ring for a November 24 bout, three years since his dramatic loss to Manny Pacquiao. To celebrate the return of the Hitman, we decided to dig out a handful of his best fights...
Defeats Kostya Tszyu: 4 June, 2005
Regarded as one of Hatton's defining nights as a boxer, he pummeled the Russian-born Australian fighter into submission in front of a baying crowd at Manchester's M.E.N. Arena. This would be the fight which announced Hatton on the world stage, earning him the IBF light-welterweight title.
Defeats Jose Luis Castillo: 23 June, 2007
Despite being the WBA welterweight champion, Hatton dropped down a division to face Castillo in Las Vegas. He flew out of the blocks, taking the fight to Castillo early on, but it would be a contest remembered most for Hatton's devastating fourth-round stoppage of the Mexican, which saw Castillo crumple to the canvas following the 'perfect body shot'.
Defeats Carlos Maussa: 26 November, 2005
In a unification bout against the WBA champion at Sheffield's Hallam FM Arena, Hatton would brush aside the Colombian with a vicious left-hook, underlining his explosive power, and subsequently leading to a bout against Luis Collazo six months later.
Defeats Juan Urango: 20 January, 2007
Heading into the fight against Urango, Hatton had been unceremoniously stripped of his titles and was back to square one. Fighting the big Colombian was to prove no issue for the Mancunian though, and he would go on to outclass Urango and start on his ascent to the top again.
Defeats Paulie Malignaggi: 22 November, 2008
Following a convincing victory over Juan Lazcano, Hatton was back on the world title radar and found the perfect opponent in Paulie Malignaggi to reclaim former glories. Back to his best, Hatton pulled the American apart in front of a Vegas crowd, until Malignaggi's corner threw in the towel during the 11th round.
