Saturday's disappointing 2-0 defeat to Swansea piled even more pressure on hapless Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger's shoulders, as the Gunners slipped to 10th spot in the Premier League and their worst start to a campaign since the Frenchman took over in 1996.

The boos echoed around the Emirates as Michael Laudrup's free-flowing Swans bagged two late goals to earn a deserved victory on another day to forget for Arsenal's beleaguered supporters.

Arsenal struggled last season, but turned things round to clinch a Champions League spot, largely thanks to the goals of Robin Van Persie. It's highly unlikely anyone in the current squad will replicate that kind of influence, so if Wenger's men are to resurrect their struggling season, they need to shake things up.

The promise of new faces in January, with a potential transfer budget in excess of £40m, is keeping alive the lingering hopes of a top four place for Arsenal this season, not to mention any chance of progressing to the business end of this campaign's Champions League. With that in mind, we've drawn up a list of five top class players that Wenger should consider bringing in to give the Gunners impetus in 2013.
