Rooney was in sparkling form against Manchester City last weekend, grabbing a vital brace to inspire United to victory, but Giggs believes his team-mate has developed into a more all-rounded player, much like Ronaldo.
So far this season Rooney has scored six league goals, four of which have come in the last fortnight. However, it is his assist rate which is most impressive, with the United attacker creating seven league goals so far this season. He has formed a formidable partnership with summer signing Robin Van Persie, relishing the deeper role in which he has been deployed.
During his time at Old Trafford, Ronaldo excelled in that position and frequently provided opportunities for his team-mates when not leading the attacking line. However, following Giggs' assertion, how do Rooney and Ronaldo compare?
We decided to put the two head-to-head in our infographic above.
