Arsenal's resounding 5-2 victory at Reading reaffirmed that Arsene Wenger should spend money on quality rather than potential when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Santi Cazorla, who arrived for £20m from Malaga, stole the show with a hat-trick less than a week after £10m flop Gervinho frightened the life out of Gooners with a shocking performance at Bradford.

Rather than buying three players that have a chance of developing into top class footaballers, Wenger must buy proven talent to restore any hopes of winning something before his contract expires in 2014.
