With the start of the January transfer window a matter of days away, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has limited fans' expectations by claiming the club will not be 'overly busy in January'. Despite being linked with a host of top talent, the Northern Irishman has underlined the club's policy for the new year, by pointing to his modest transfer budget and insisting that the 'purse strings' will be loosened in the summer.

The Reds still remain in need of midfield and attacking reinforcements to help them consolidate European football for next season and if reports are to be believed, Liverpool could land Chelsea's Daniel Sturridge in the coming weeks, but further additions will be needed to allow Rodgers to rotate his squad more effectively.
