Despite claiming that he finally has the finances to "spend big", Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has quickly moved to dampen Gunners fans' hopes of a winter spree, by insisting that is difficult to sign anyone because his current squad is so good.

“It has become more difficult for one simple reason: We have a good squad. I know we swim against the stream a bit because people don't believe that. I say we have a very good squad,” he recently commented, despite his side currently sitting in sixth spot.

While the frugal Frenchman might be reluctant to bring about changes in January, we thought we'd give him a helping hand in picking out a handful of players that would be better than some his current crop.
