Aston Villa's unravelling at the hands of Newcastle United in midweek saw the Villains slip further into the relegation mire. Boss Paul Lambert's calls for his side to “fight like hell” seem lost on his young stars, with his insistence on playing the lesser experienced players proving detrimental to the club's cause.

Like it or not, Villa are in a relegation dog-fight and Lambert could certainly do with an injection of experience if he is to drag the club to Premier League safety. With the January transfer window in its last few hours, time is certainly running out if he is to boost the club's chances of survival, so we thought we'd give Lambert a hand and identify a handful of seasoned Premier League stars who could give his side a lift.
