Prior to Euro 2012 there were plenty of scare stories doing the rounds about Polish hooligans, but very little was said about the possibility of a cow invading the pitch, as you'll see in the video above.
After you've savoured that, check out our top 10 animals invading sports events…
1) THE ANFIELD CAT
While Liverpool played out a 0-0 bore draw with Spurs, the Anfield entertainment was provided by a pitch-invading cat.
2) HIGHBURY SQUIRREL GETS ARSENAL'S TAILS UP
In a 2006 Champions League match with Villarreal, Arsenal were joined on the pitch by this cute critter. Gooners came up with the rather imaginative chant 'Squirrel!', yet Le Prof clearly wasn't impressed by the display and the bushy tailed gatecrasher was never seen again.
3) DOG IS POLES APART
This dog shows some great pace during a Polish league game between Polonia Bytom and Wisla Krakow.
4) JACK RUSSELL HAS IRISH EYES SMILING
This cheeky chap invaded the pitch at an International Rules football match between Ireland and Australia - get in there, son!
5) BELGIAN PLAYERS QUACK UP
In this Belgian league match, Zulte-Waremgem's Mahamadou Habib Habibou (that's a mouthful) launches a poor duck over an advertising board.
6) PIGEON STREETS AHEAD IN F1
It's not a pitch, but it's a hell of a lot more dangerous! This pigeon couldn't resist getting closer to the action at the 2003 German Grand Prix.
7) THE 1962 WORLD PUP
England star Jimmy Greaves had enough on his hands trying to cope with world champions Brazil during this World Cup quarter-final, but the Spurs striker ended up catching a pitch invading dog. It's claimed that the mutt took a whizz over Greavsie and Brazilian player Garrincha found it so funny that he adopted the dog after the game.
8) IT'S MICHAEL ROO-MACHER
In 2007 this kangaroo jumped on to the track at the Bathurst 1000 touring car race in Australia. Strewth!
9) BASKETBALL PLAYED WITH BATS!
Fittingly it was Halloween when this bat disturbed a game between San Antonio Spurs and Sacramento. After the game had been stopped twice, Spurs player Manu Ginobili literally took matters into own hands, when he swatted the bat mid-game.
10) EUROPEAN CUP WINNERS' CLUCK
This chicken avoided every tackle as he interrupted a European Cup Winners' Cup match between Dynamo Kiev and Atletico Madrid in 1986. He was sent off for fowl-play.
