Daily Express north east correspondent Niall Hickman claims Fabricio Coloccini's imminent departure from Newcastle is disastrous for the club.

The Argentine defender, who joined the Magpies from Deportivo La Coruna in 2008, is reportedly unhappy at St James' Park and wants to return his homeland.

That would leave Alan Pardew's men short at the back and Hickman has described the situation in the north east as 'critical'.
