Stan 'The Man' Collymore brings you the fastest post-match phone-in after all the Premier League action - only on talkSPORT

Mariner prepared to accept ref justice!

Premier League referee Andre Mariner will still be tuning in to talkSPORT this season - regardless of his performances on the pitch.

The Birmingham official, who will take charge of this Sunday's Community Shield between Chelsea and Manchester United at Wembley, told talkSPORT that even if he does have a bad game, he won’t shy away from 'Call Collymore' every Saturday and Sunday evening.

“It’s not nice when things haven’t gone well," he said. "But I believe that if you listen to 'Call Collymore' on the way home after having a good game, then why not listen when you have a bad game?”

“It’s how you respond mentally and adapt to the mistakes you’ve made and put them right for the next game.”

Mariner insists that he won’t be afraid to show a red card if any of the players step out of line at Wembley this weekend, even though that would mean a Premier League ban.

He added: “The word friendly for these two big teams doesn’t exist. It’s a chance of silverware and a chance to make a statement before the start of the season.

"I won't referee the game any differently than I normally do. If a red card needs to be shown, it will be shown"
