Duncan Barkes was born in West Sussex. His life has been spent encompassing all aspects of the media including broadcasting, journalism, lobbying, speech writing and conceiving and managing publicity campaigns for a variety of businesses, organisations and individuals.

He claims his favourite job was beetroot boiler but he luckily managed to progress to pan scrubber and eventually a bank clerk. 

He enjoys red wine, real ale and Earl Grey tea – and even puffs on Cuban cigars and the occasional pipe. He is firm believer that more men should wear double cuff shirts and cuff links.
