Andy Jacobs can be heard talking football, cricket and pretty much everything else besides alongside Paul Hawksbee every weekday afternoon between 1-4pm.
As well as being an accountant and a carpet fitter in previous lives, Andy was the founding editor of men’s magazine FHM, editor of the International Sports News on Channel 4 and also head of development at Avalon Television where he produced comedy football show Fantasy Football League hosted Frank Skinner and David Baddiel.
And it was that show that was the start of a beautiful friendship when, in 1998, Andy invited Paul to join the team on ITV’s Fantasy World Cup. Andy had watched as much football as was humanly possible during the 50-plus shows he’d produced for Baddiel & Skinner and thought he could do with some company.
Paul and Andy’s job was to give the two sofa-bound satirists some of the ammunition to help them fire the bullets. David and Frank will happily tell anyone who’ll listen how frequently they missed the target.
H&J first appeared on our airwaves in the summer of 1999, and their unique brand of irreverance and humour has been winning plaudits ever since.
Just don't get Andy started on Chelsea...!
