Quinny started out as a youngster with Wigan, and went on to play for Stockport, Oldham, Newcastle, Portsmouth and Coventry.
He scored 228 goals in 515 league games, but was almost as famous for his post-match fry-ups washed down with lager as he was for his predatory instincts in front of goal.
He swapped late nights for early mornings in 1993 when he hung up his goalscoring boots to pursue his passion of horse racing, and is now a successful trainer.
He can now be found on weekend mornings warming up the nation for the day’s football with Mark Saggers on the Weekend Sports Breakfast - and terrorising the production floor with his love of terrible gags!
