Micky Quinn
You might remember Micky Quinn from his barnstorming goalscoring days for the likes of Newcastle, Portsmouth and Coventry, his exploits were known to bring a tear to the eye, literally.
You may also remember him for being the hard-living moustachioed lothario who epitomised those heady days of footballers following pre match fry-ups with cigarettes and Stella. Arsene Wenger would have been proud.
The loveable scouser started out on the goal trail as a youngster with Wigan Athletic, before going on to bang the goals in at Stockport and Oldham amongst others. Despite 230 goals throughout his career, he was as well known for tackling the bulge as much as the opposition.
He swapped late nights for early mornings in 1993 when he hung up his goalscoring boots to pursue his passion of horse racing.
He often finds time between mucking out the stables to pop into the studio to shoot the breeze with ‘tha posh la’ Mark Saggers on all matters footballing, as well as terrorising the production floor with his love of terrible gags.
