Former Liverpool star Ray Houghton believes his old club is capable of finishing in the top four of the Premier League this season and qualifying for the Champions League.

The Reds are in the shake-up at the top and, although Houghton admits Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are out of sight, he does feel the Anfield club can challenge the likes of Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham for that final place in the leading quartet.

He does admit, however, that he would like to see Brendan Rodgers make a couple more moves in the January transfer window to supplement the arrival of Daniel Sturridge.
