Southampton legend Mick Channon says he was 'disappointed' to see Nigel Adkins sacked as Saints manager last week, but said it's no real surprise with the way modern day Premier League clubs are run.

"Nigel Adkins did a great job there," said Channon, speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.

"The realism of football today is that clubs are owned by one person, not a board of directors, and at the end of the day Nicolas Cortese is the boss and he does what he wants to do."
