Carl Froch has warned Ricky Hatton that he could get hurt if doesn’t prepare himself properly as he returns to the ring.
The IBF super-middleweight champion admitted he believes the Hitman will be able to resume his career as a fighter due to his age.
But Froch has urged Hatton to be cautious and only fight if he can get back to highest level possible.
“Initially I thought he should leave it alone," he told Kick Off. “I just think he’s had a fantastic career. He’s not a boxer. He’s not the most skilful out there but what he has achieved is unbelievable.
“He’s done himself and his fans proud but at the age of 33 he’s younger than me by two years so I can’t tell him to retire, I’m still going.
“If he has still got that burning desire and he still thinks he can put himself in physically good shape to go in with these top boys then have a go at it.
“I just hope he doesn’t come unstuck and get hurt. He lost to Floyd Mayweather Jnr and then he got knocked out pretty bad by Manny Pacquiao so it would be horrible to see that happen to him again.
“You’ve got to consider your safety as well. He’s got a family, he needs to be careful.”
