Ian Bell and Kevin Pietersen were the star performers on day two of the fourth Test as the deadly duo smashed a partnership of 350 as England moved to 457-3.

The hosts had started the day badly with Alastair Cook failing to add to his score and skipper Andrew Strauss only managing to score an extra two runs.

But thankfully for England normality was restored by the imperious Bell (181 not out) and Pietersen (175). The pair not content on just racking up the runs, proceeded to thrash the ball around the ground for 44 fours and Bell, late on, hit two consecutive sixes over the bowler’s head to further compound the visitors’ misery.

Pietersen eventually fell to an caught and bowled effort from Suresh Raina and James Anderson (3 not out) came in as nightwatchman as England look to increase their first innings total.
