England batsman Jonathan Trott has been named ICC Cricketer of the Year.

The Warwickshire star, who scored more than 1,000 runs in both Test and one-day internationals, beat team-mate Alastair Cook, who had the consolation of being named Test Cricketer of the Year, Sachin Tendulkar and Hashim Amla to the award.

Trott, who only made his international debut in 2009, said: "I never envisaged winning this award and it's a brilliant feeling to be recognised.

"If you'd said to me two years ago that I'd have won this player of the year award, I'd have asked you if you really should be out at this time.

"But it's an amazing feeling. I'm really, really happy and just want to let it sink in now."
