India take unassailable 3-0 lead in one-day series

England lost the one-day series in India, after the home side built up an unassailable 3-0 lead with a five-wicket win in Mohali.

The hosts had to chase a victory target of 299 following Jonathan Trott’s 98 not out giving England a score of 298-4.

And they began promisingly as Ajinkya Rahane (91) and Gautam Gambhir (58) helped them begin to mount a fightback before wobbling, losing four quick wickets to limp from 190-1 to 235-5 and give England renewed hope.

But captain MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja combined to grab 35 and 26 not out and edge them home with four balls to spare.
