After a miserable first innings display, England were forced to follow on against India in Ahmedabad but Alastair Cook and Nick Compton’s late display will give the tourists hope as they trail by 219 runs.
They started the day on 44-3 in their opening inning and started slowly but soon Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell, Alastair Cook had fallen leaving them facing embarrassment on 80-6.
There were some positives though as Matthew Prior (48), Tim Bresnan (19) and Stuart Broad (25) managed to help England limp over the line to 191 all out, meaning the follow on was enforced.
Alastair Cook (74 not out) and Nick Compton (34 not out) came out for the second innings and displayed impressive resilience as they began to fight back ending the day on 111-0.
And Andy Flower will be hoping his side carry on where they left off the going in to day four of the Test as they look to claim a draw.
