India have taken a 2-1 lead in their One Day international series with England as Virat Kohli hit 77 not out to help secure victory by seven wickets in Ranchi.
The visitors toiled at the crease and only an impressive knock from Joe Root (33) and a quickfire 25 from Tim Bresnan saved them from an embarrassing first innings score.
The 155 all out that England reached was never going to worry India and even the loss of Ajinkya Rahane for a duck couldn’t prevent the inevitable.
Batsmen Gautam Gambhir (33) and Yuvraj Singh (30) both assisted Kohli who put in a controlled display with the willow, striking nine fours and two sixes, as they eased to a comprehensive victory.
The two sides meet again on Wednesday, January 23 in Mohali.
