England thrash New Zealand in Twenty20 opener

A superb team effort from England saw them score a record 214-7 as they beat New Zealand by 40 runs in Auckland.

The tourist went to the crease first with Luke Wright (42) and Eoin Morgan (46) helping the tourists to their mammoth score, while in total the team hit 15 sixes.

But, in response, New Zealand were unable to handle the bowling of Steven Finn (39-3) and Stuart Broad (24-4).

Martin Guptill struck 44 as he attempted to keep their run chase on track but the hosts were unable to catch an impressive English side, only managing 174-9 in their 20 overs.
