England in a spin as Ajmal rules in Dubai

England were bamboozled by the spin of Saeed Ajmal as they collapsed on day of the First Test against Pakistan in Dubai.

Andrew Strauss’ side looked anything but the number one side in the world as they toiled to 192 all out in their first innings.

Only a battling 70 from wicket-keeper Matt Prior, ably supported by Graeme Swann (34), saved England from further embarrassment, but Ajmal’s career best figures of seven for 55 have put the ‘home’ side firmly in command in the first game of the three Test series.

At stumps at the end of day one Pakistan had made 42 without loss, suggesting that the tourists’ paltry total is well below par.
