Exclusive - Watson: McLaren have the perfect balance between drivers

Ex-McLaren driver John Watson believes his former team have the perfect pair in Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button.

Button won his second race of the season in Hungary at the weekend to cement his fifth place in the  drivers' world championship,  and is now just 11 points behind Fernando Alonso.

Team-mate Hamilton finished fourth, completing a successful weekend for the McLaren team.

And Watson believes the duo have exactly the right chemistry to be successful in the sport. He told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast: “I don’t think they realised when they [McLaren] took Jenson on what a treasure they had.

“He’s won four Grand Prix for the team over the two seasons but more importantly is the balance between the two drivers.

“Lewis is aggressive, what Jenson brings to the team is a maturity and a stability.

“There is a perfect balance between the two drivers, a hot rod in Lewis and a more understanding Jenson. Together it makes a great team.”
