Wales star Gareth Bale has claimed that he didn’t dive to win a penalty in their 2-1 win over Scotland.
The Tottenham winger, 23, put in a match-winning showing for his nation as they came from behind to beat their Group A rivals.
But it appeared the flyer clipped his own heels in the penalty area to win a spot-kick in the 81st minute.
Bale, though, strenuously denies the suggestions, insisting he was fouled.
“I don’t know if I can clip my own heels. Someone clipped me and I went over. It was a simple penalty.”
And he added the victory was exactly what the embattled country needed after an extended run of poor form.
“It was a great evening,” Bale beamed. “There was a lot of pressure on us coming into the game, we stood up to the challenge and got a vital three points which the whole nation needed.”
