Exclusive – Britton: Only Van Persie rivals Michu for signing of the season

Swansea midfielder Leon Britton has told talkSPORT that only Robin Van Persie can rival his team-mate Michu for the signing of the season.

The Spanish forward has been a revelation for the Welsh side after joining the club in the summer from Rayo Vallecano, scoring 16 times in 25 games.

And Britton was left purring about the 26-year-old following his goal in their 2-0 victory over Chelsea in their Capital One Cup semi-final first leg clash at Stamford Bridge.

“[His form] gives you massive confidence,” he told The Sports Bar. “As a team-mate when Michu is in front of goal, he’s just so calm and composed you know he’s going to put it away.

“The chance tonight [against Chelsea] was still a tough one to put away but he’s done it all season.

“For £2million I think, although Robin van Persie might be the signing of the season, you’ve got to say Michu is right up alongside him.”
