Europa League quarter-final draw: Chelsea to face Rubin Kazan and Spurs to take on Basel

Chelsea have been drawn against Rubin Kazan in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

The Blues overcame Steaua Bucharest on Thursday - Fernando Torres' strike sealing a 3-2 aggregate win for Rafa Benitez's men - and now face a long trip to Russia as they bid to reach the semi-finals of the competition.

Tottenham, who sneaked past Inter Milan in the last 16 on away goals after losing the second leg 4-1, were plucked to face Swiss side Basel, as the three Premier League teams in Friday's draw were kept apart.

Newcastle have been handed the toughest test of the English trio, with their last-gasp victory over Anzhi rewarded with a tie against Portuguese giants Benfica.
