West Bromich Albion stunned Arsenal at the Emirates on another fascinating day of football in the Premier League.
Goals from Peter Odemwingie, Gonzalo Jara and former Gunners youngster Jerome Thomas saw the Baggies fly into an incredible 3-0 lead despite Chris Brunt’s earlier penalty miss.
Samir Nasri dragged Arsenal kicking and screaming back into the match with two fantastic goals including one breathtaking solo effort, but his cameo wasn’t enough to get the home side a point at Ashburton Grove.
Liverpool and Sunderland played out an end-to-end thriller at Anfield during a 2-2 draw which saw blunders and stunners in equal measures.
Dirk Kuyt controversially put Liverpool ahead early on as Michael Turner tapped a free kick a yard behind him and a full 15 in front of his goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, leaving Torresto race onto the loose ball and pass to Kuyt who calmly tapped home from 18-yards.
Darren Bent who had scored a late equaliser last weekend against Arsenal provided the goal that drew the sides level as his penalty, which Reina got a hand to, ended up in the back of the net.
Sunderland’s star striker then grabbed their second as he connected perfectly with a diving header from Nedum Onuoha’s cross but Steven Gerrard scored with a header of his own to nick a point for Liverpool.
Frederic Piquionne netted West Ham's winner as they beat London rivals Tottenham at Upton Park. The Frenchman’s header from a first-half corner was enough for The Hammers to get their first win of the season but Spurs will be kicking themselves as they wasted several good scoring opportunities.
A late Brett Emerton strike for Blackburn saw off Blackpool in a local derby at Bloomfield Road. A comical Charlie Adam own goal put Rovers in front before Matt Phillips equaliser, but the Australian’s goal sealed all three points for Sam Allardyce's men.
There were no goals in two games Premier League games as Birmingham and Wigan drew a blank despite the efforts of Hugo Rodallega. Craig Gardner was given his marching orders for a poor challenge on Franco Di Santo.
Fulham and Everton also played out a goalless tie with Mark Schwarzer making several good saves at Craven Cottage to earn his team a point and leave struggling Everton rock bottom with just three points from six games.
