Brighton 1-0 Newcastle: Seagulls soar into fifth round of FA Cup
Brighton sprung an FA Cup upset as they ran out 1-0 winners against Newcastle.
Alan Pardew’s side have been one of the Premier League’s surprise packages this season, sitting sixth in the league table just five points outside of the top four.
But the Seagulls are no pushovers themselves, and they booked their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup thanks to Will Buckley’s second-half goal.
His deflected shot in the 76th minute went in off Newcastle defender Danny Williamson and looped over goalkeeper Tim Krul to decide an otherwise even tie.
Newcastle upped the pace as they went in search of a late equaliser, with Yohan Cabaye coming closest.
