Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini says his sides hopes of qualifying for the knockout stage of the Champions League are ‘finished’ after their 2-2 draw against Ajax.
The result leaves the Premier League side rooted to the bottom of the group with two games remaining.
“Unfortunately we only took one point and I think it is finished for us in the Champions League,” Mancini told Sky Sports.
The Italian was particularly unhappy with the decision to disallow the effort from Sergio Aguero that would have given City a 3-2 lead but was ruled out for being offside.
“We played very well in the second half and had a lot of chances but the referee and his linesman were really poor. It was incredible for the linesman not to consider that to be a goal,” he added.
City’s only chances of qualifying would be if they were to beat both Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund and other results in the group went in their favour.
