Joe Hart disappointed by Manchester City’s dismal Champions League exit

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has revealed his disappointment after they exited the Champions League in the group stages for the second year in a row.

The Premier League champions drew 1-1 with Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium to confirm their exit from the competition.

And Roberto Mancini’s side’s inability to hold on to a lead during their time in the tournament particularly seemed to irk the England shotstopper.

"We're very disappointed,” he told Sky Sports. “We've had a few opportunities in this group when we could have done a lot better. All the games have cost us. We've lost our two away games and not won at home.

"We led in Amsterdam and led in Madrid. It's been a disappointing campaign. We've surprised ourselves in a very, very bad way in this competition."
