Former Wales manager Bobby Gould has urged current boss Gary Speed to do everything he can to convince Ryan Giggs to come out of international retirement to face England.
Giggs retired from international duty in 2007 but, with Gareth Bale ruled out of the crunch Euro 2012 qualifier, Gould believes the 37-year-old Manchester United star could be tempted to make a one-off return.
Wales must win at the Millenium Stadium to keep alive any hopes of reaching the finals next summer, and Gould told talkSPORT: “They’ve got a major problem now Gareth Bale’s not there. Are they going to ask Giggsy to play for one game? If I were Gary Speed, that’s what I’d be trying to do.
"Giggs has had a break, and his kids are getting a bit older – it’s only 72 hours out of his life to play. It’s just one game – life’s too short not to say yes.
“If you were Gary Speed you’d want to know you’d done everything possible to beat England. That’s all you can do as a manager.
“This is a competitive game and Wales have got zero points at this moment in time. Everybody was saying they wanted Gareth Bale to play wide left – what else have they got? What’s coming through the ranks beneath that?”
