Alan Pardew has told talkSPORT he has ruled out replacing Fabio Capello because of the relentless media pressure that comes with managing England.

Just a day after being confirmed as Capello’s temporary replacement, Stuart Pearce has had to face accusations of racism over an incident that occurred more than 15 years ago.

And Pardew, who quickly ruled himself out of contention to take the post permanently on Thursday, admits the high-profile nature of the job has put him off.

“I know right now it is not for me,” said the 50-year-old. “I feel it is a job where you have to consider your family, you have to consider where you are and what the timing is, and it’s just not right for me. My two girls are very young.

“Stuart Pearce has got the job and he’s splashed over the front of The Sun over an incident in 1994. I mean, come on.

"You have to understand that for that England job, with the media we have, I think it has to go to an experienced manager. A manager whose family has grown up and can understand some of the silly things that go on.”

Harry Redknapp is the clear favourite to replace Capello and Pardew believes he is the right man for the role.

"The outstanding candidate is Harry," he said. "I really, really hope he gets it. I think he perhaps wants it and that's important too."
