Milwall manager Kenny Jackett has ruled out succeeding John Toshack as Wales boss.

Toshack resigned with immediate effect earlier today after six years in charge, and Jackett was immediately tipped for the post after leading Millwall into the Championship during an impressive three-year spell.

But the 48-year-old has issued a statement announcing he will not be leaving the Den any time soon, as he believes it is too early in his career to take charge of his country.

We have just been promoted to the Championship, it is still early days for us at this level and I am fully focused on my job here at Millwall— Kenny Jackett

"I understand that there will always be media speculation whenever a managerial post becomes vacant and of course I am flattered to have been linked in some quarters with the Wales job," he said.

"But while at some time in the future the prospect of international management might be appealing, this is certainly not the right time for me.

"We have just been promoted to the Championship, it is still early days for us at this level and I am fully focused on my job here at Millwall."
