West Ham boss Sam Allardyce admits he could extend the loan spell of Manuel Almunia from Arsenal.
Almunia joined the Championship club on an emergency month's loan after Robert Green was ruled out for six weeks with a knee injury.
The Spanish keeper is desperate to get his career back on track after falling down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium and wants to show he can still compete at the highest level.
Almunia is due to return to the north London club at the end of October, but if Green is not ready to make a first-team return, Allardyce could make moves to keep the experience keeper at Upton Park for another month.
Allardyce said: "We can extend it depending on how the situation with Robert lies in terms of his injury.
"There is always the possibility that Arsenal run into a bit of a goalkeeping crisis and there is an emergency call-back even this month."
