League leaders Cardiff City continued their fine form with a 2-1 win at home against Bristol City.
Fraizer Campbell scored twice on his home debut for Malky Mackay’s side as they moved one step closer to automatic promotion. Ben Nugent’s late own goal was not enough for the visitors as they remain in the relegation zone.
Hull consolidated their position in second spot after securing a 1-0 success over Charlton. The Tigers dominated the opening half and Mohamed Gedo’s effort gave the hosts all three points.
Crystal Palace maintained their place in the play-off spots after a 4-1 home victory over Middlesbrough. The Eagles were always in charge after two goals from Glenn Murray and another by Peter Ramage. Faris Haroun got a consolation for Middlesbrough before substitute Kevin Phillips grabbed a fourth late on.
Watford kept pace with the other top sides when they were comfortable 4-0 winners away at Birmingham. Troy Deeney’s double and a strike from Ikechi Anya gave the Hornets all three points. Almen Abdi’s late strike rounded off a tremendous display from the visitors.
Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 with Bolton after Andy Reid gave the hosts the advantage but the visitors equalised through Craig Davies.
Meanwhile Ipswich secured a 1-0 win against Blackpool as Michael Chopra got the only goal.
In a game of few chances Derby and Wolves drew 0-0 at Pride Park.
