Exclusive - Stephane Henchoz: Venky’s have turned Blackburn into a circus

Former Blackburn defender Stephane Henchoz has told talkSPORT that club owners Venky’s are to blame for the recent managerial merry-go-round at Ewood Park.

The Lancashire outfit announced the sacking of manager Michael Appleton after just three months in the job on Tuesday, following a seven-match winless run in the Championship.

The news means Rovers are now on the hunt for a new coach for the third time this season following the earlier departures of Steve Kean and Henning Berg.

And Henchoz joined talkSPORT to reflect on the crisis at his former club.

“I think it’s a proper circus,” the ex-Switzerland international told Drive Time.

“Blackburn is a good club, but since Venky’s took over I think it’s been a joke.

“The problem is they don’t have any idea about football.

“The managers they’ve picked haven’t done a great job, but it’s the chairman and the directors that chose the managers.

“At the end of the day they are responsible for picking the wrong manager so many times.”
