West Ham are set to take a punt on unknown Portuguese striker Edgar Costa.
The 24-year-old Nacional da Madeira striker has been training with the club this week and manager Sam Allardyce is prepared to take a gamble and sign the frontman in his hunt for firepower at Upton Park.
Costa has taken part in a number of training sessions at the club's Chadwell Heath training ground where he has caught the eye of the coaching staff enough for the promotion-chasing side to offer him a deal.
Any possible deal would not affect Allardyce's search for a proven striker with Huddersfield hotshot Jordan Rhodes still their primary target.
