Cardiff boss Mackay signs contract extension

Cardiff boss Mackay has signed a contract extension

Cardiff have received a timely boost ahead of their Carling Cup final against Liverpool this weekend with the news that manager Malky Mackay has signed a three-and-a-half year contract.

Mackay has enjoyed a successful start to life since arriving from Watford in the summer, leading the Bluebirds to a cup final against Kenny Dalglish’s men and fifth place in the Championship.

And he has admitted he is hoping to making history with Cardiff on two fronts this season by gaining promotion to the Premier League and winning the League Cup for the first time.

Along with my coaching team, my squad of players and the many hard working people at the club I look forward to the future as we aim to bring success to this club.— Malky Mackay

Mackay said: "My positive thoughts of Cardiff, as a city, a club and its supporters have only been enhanced further since coming to south Wales last summer.

"Along with my coaching team, my squad of players and the many hard working people at the club I look forward to the future as we aim to bring success to this club.

"We are sure that all Cardiff supporters and partners will join us in celebrating this news as we push to make history on two fronts this season."
