Shaun Derry has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast there’s one game too many over the festive period and dropping just one would be ideal.
There have been widespread calls for a winter break, and the midfield star admits there is just too much football over Christmas and the New Year.
The QPR midfielder said: “I played with concrete legs on Tuesday, it was ridiculous, I had a shot just before half-time, it was an air shot and I just couldn’t move my legs. I was that stiff.
“We’ve got five games in just under 13 days I think – it’s baffling. Whoever sorts these things out pre-season needs shooting really.”
QPR beat Coventry 2-0 and are now seven points clear at the top of the Championship. And Derry thinks their season is going even better than planned.
He added: “We never in our wildest dreams thought we’d have this kind of start, so you need to embrace it definitely.
“It’s a great position and we’re fortunate that we’ve got a really healthy squad. Although it’s not the biggest of squads in depth, in quality I think there’s a good 18 or 19 players that are more than capable of pulling on that shirt.”
