Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish has confirmed the club are interested in striker Robert Earnshaw.
The Welshman is available on a free transfer as his contract with Nottingham Forest is set to expire.
And he is thought to have held talks with Selhurst Park boss Dougie Freedman about a move to the Championship side.
And Parish has confirmed that the club are considering how far to take their interest, with Cardiff City also linked with the 30-year-old.
"Rob is certainly in our thoughts," he said. "He is out of contract and Forest have made him an offer, but I'm sure a lot of clubs want him.
"I'm not sure how much it will be pursued beyond a passing interest, but he is the type of calibre of player we want to bring to the club."
