Parker tells Spurs: Finish in top four or we've failed

Scott Parker insists Tottenham must qualify for next season’s Champions League or they will have failed as a squad.

The north Londoners have won just one of their last eight Premier League games and were thrashed by Chelsea in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final.

And Parker admits Spurs now need to dust themselves down and ensure they will finish in the top four.

He said: "If we don't end up fourth we will have failed as a squad. We've had a fantastic ride this year and we've dipped, that's obvious.

"Even our own manager is probably doubting us a little bit at the moment. Others [are], too, like our own fans."

Many people have claimed the speculation surrounding Harry Redknapp’s future has unsettled the players, but Parker insists that is wide of the mark.

He added: “Has the speculation about the manager affected us? I wouldn't like to think it had. It's probably a combination of a few things - dip in form, a bit of tiredness, but we need to try to stay mentally strong and grind it out now."
