Roberto Di Matteo is refusing to talk up Chelsea’s title credentials, despite the impressive victory over Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
The Blues crushed their London rivals 4-2 to extend their unbeaten start to the season to eight games and strengthen their grip on top spot in the Premier League.
Di Matteo, however, insists it’s far too early to be tipping his side for the title.
“It’s early days, only eight games, and there are 30 more games to play," said the Stamford Bridge boss.
“We are in good shape, we are playing some great football, scoring plenty of goals and creating more chances as well. But there will be moments where we are going to be tested more and we will see how we react to that."
Juan Mata (2), Gary Cahill and Daniel Sturridge earned the points for Di Matteo’s men, and provided Chelsea with their first victory at Spurs’ stadium since 2005.
And Di Matteo was delighted to end the club's White Hart Lane hoodoo.
“It was a test of character today because we have not won at White Hart Lane in the league since 2005," he said. "We knew we were going to be tested and I think we showed a lot of qualities."
