Mega-rich Anzhi Makhachkala are expecting to finalise a deal for Manchester United target Nico Gaitan, according to sporting director Roberto Carlos.
The Portuguese ace has been linked with United over the past year, following some impressive displays for Benfica, including two against Sir Alex Ferguson's side in the Champions League.
And with Nani's future at Old Trafford unclear, it has been suggested that United may turn to fellow winger Gaitan to fill the gap.
But Carlos, who has been working behind the scenes at Anzhi since retiring as a player, believes the Russian side are in pole position to land him.
Reports in Russia have even claimed that Anzhi have made contact with Benfica to schedule a meeting regarding the 24-year-old.
Talking to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, Carlos said: "There were already talks in the summer but various agents appeared so we backed out.
"But now we are expecting a good solution for all parties."
