Graeme Sharp insists Luis Suarez has to cut out the controversy and concentrate on his football if he is to deliver on his ‘special talent’.
The Liverpool striker was at the centre of the action in Sunday’s Merseyside derby, responding to David Moyes’ pre-match jibes about his simulation with a comical dive in front of the Everton dug-out after Leighton Baines’ own goal had given the visitors the lead at Goodison.
And Sharp says it’s time the Uruguayan cut out the nonsense and just focused on his football.
The ex-Scottish international told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast: “He was a handful [against Everton]. If he concentrates on his football, he’s fantastic and a real threat.
“If he can eradicate some of the other things – for instance, he could have got a red for that nasty challenge on Distin and he doesn’t need to get involved in that – he’s a fantastic player.
“If he concentrates on football there’s no doubt he’s a special talent amid all this controversy.”
