Wilshere needs more time to recover, says Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has expressed his dismay with England boss Roy Hodgson after Jack Wilshere was called up to the national squad for next week's friendly in Sweden.

Wilshere has only recently come back to the Arsenal squad after a 14 month lay-off and Wenger does not want his young star to play too much too soon.

The 20-year-old, who was dismissed during Arsenal's 2-1 defeat at Manchester United on Saturday, has managed just 225 minutes of football since returning to the first-team fold.

Wenger said: "In an ideal solution he would not be involved.

"He has only played one full game. I think he needs 10 days of full recovery.

"Roy wanted him back in the group. At least he doesn't play this weekend [at home to Fulham] as he is suspended.

"How do friendly games in November prepare you for the next official game in February?"
