Manchester United defender Chris Smalling reveals he’ll watch Sunday’s matches involving league title contenders Chelsea and Manchester City with interest tomorrow as United’s 3-2 win over Aston Villa put them four points clear at the top of the Premier League.
The Englishman also paid tribute to the match-winning Javier Hernandez, whose goals set the Red Devils on the way to their stunning comeback.
“It was great to have him come on, he’s done that all season, he’s such a danger-man and I think he’s really put pressure on the boys playing tomorrow," said Smalling.
“They’ve got tough games as well so luckily we can sit at the top and can watch them hopefully falter.”
It took until after the hour mark to begin their comeback against Villa, but Smalling also said the league leaders could have made the win more comfortable.
“It took a while to get going but how many times have we done that over the years, where we’ve been able to come back from two goals down, it was incredible. It was a great feeling...and we had enough chances in the second half to maybe make it four or five."
