Steve Nicol does not have high hopes for Liverpool when they take on Chelsea on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.
“Liverpool have a puncher’s chance,” said the former Anfield defender.
“In the last three weeks they have had Champions League games and an epic Capital One Cup match against Manchester United.
“The biggest decider in this game is how fatigued Chelsea are going to be.”
Nicol believes that Chelsea’s trio in midfield will have a large say in the outcome.
“The biggest problem Liverpool will have are the three musketeers. If Oscar, [Edin] Hazard and [Juan] Mata if they have any juice in their legs left if they do they are going to give Liverpool a lot of problems.”
Nicol feels that the Merseysiders’ best hope of getting a positive result will fall on the shoulders of striker Luis Suarez.
“If Suarez doesn’t get service you wonder where the goals are going to come from. Liverpool have a lack of experience up front and I feel they will struggle,” added the 50-year-old.
