Exclusive - Phil Parkes claims Harry Redknapp is the 'right man' to save QPR from Premier League relegation

Phil Parkes believes Harry Redknapp is the right man to lead QPR away from near certain Premier League relegation.

Current Rangers boss Mark Hughes is under serious pressure in the Loftus Road hot seat with many fans hoping out of work Redknapp, who was most recently in charge at Tottenham, comes in to replace the Welshman.

And former Rs goalkeeper Parkes insists it’s time for Hughes to be removed from his post.

Harry Redknapp can work miracles— Phil Parkes

“If I was the chairman I would think after 12 games we need to try and change it,” he told the Press Pass. “If I was in his position I would do it sooner rather than later.”

Redknapp is the bookie’s favourite to take over the reins in west London and Parkes went on to state that the former West Ham chief is the right man for the job.

“There’s only one who’s available,” he said. “And that’s Harry Redknapp. He can work miracles. If you get Harry Redknapp as manager and you’re looking to set up the future of the club with youth policy and an academy then he’s not the man for you. He’s not interested in that.

“He’s only interested in the here and now. He wants to get results. He’d probably come in to QPR and try to sign players in January to get them out of trouble.

“He did it at Portsmouth. He did a fantastic job there and took over at Tottenham when they were bottom of the league [and took them to a respectable position]. “He’s the only candidate who could step into the shoes straight away.”
